How to Reset Hyundai Radio After Battery Change

A Hyundai radio may require a code due to a battery disconnection, replacement, or electrical issue. This security feature is designed to deter theft and unauthorized use. 

The Hyundai radio code is usually in the glove box on a sticker marked “Anti-Theft Radio Code.”  You can also retrieve it by inputting VIN and radio serial into a radio code generator. Otherwise, contact an authorized Hyundai dealership or call Hyundai Help Center at (1800) 186 306.

Here’s how to reset your Hyundai radio using the code:

1. Turn on the ignition and radio. The radio display should read ” 1 CODE.“
2. Use the preset buttons on your radio to enter your Hyundai radio code. Most Hyundai stereos have numbered buttons from 1 to 6. Press these buttons in the correct sequence corresponding to your radio code. For example, if your radio code is 6534, press button #1 six times, button #2 five times, and so on.
3. Finally, press the button #5 to confirm the code. The radio should now be reset and working.

Remember, you have limited attempts to enter the correct radio code. After multiple failed attempts, the radio may lock up and require a trip to the Hyundai dealership for further assistance.

Factory Resetting Hyundai Radio Using the Pinhole

If your Hyundai radio is not working or has been deprogrammed, try these steps:

• Find a thin, straight object (a paperclip, ballpen with a narrow tip, or a toothpick) to press the reset button 
• Turn on the radio
• Check for the pinhole on the radio panel’s upper left or lower right side. The indentation is usually above the FM/AM button, near the phone button.
• Carefully and slowly insert the tool into the pinhole, then apply gentle pressure until you feel the tiny button depress. Hold the reset button down for approximately two seconds. That should initiate the factory reset process.
• The radio may take a few moments to reboot after the reset process. You should notice that all presets, Bluetooth pairings, and other settings have been erased, and the radio should function as if it were brand new.
• After confirming that the reset was successful, reconfigure your preferred radio settings, such as radio station presets, Bluetooth connections, and audio preferences.

The above method has been tested on Hyundai Elantra 2020-2022 and Tucson models. 

Resetting Hyundai Radio Using the Fuse Box

Hyundai radio display or buttons not working? Detaching the audio fuse or replacing a damaged one could help. Follow these steps:

1. Gather a few essential tools. At the very least, you’ll need a pair of needle-nose pliers to remove and insert fuses.
2. Turn off the ignition: Ensure your Hyundai is parked safely and turn off the engine.
3. Find the fuse box: Locate the fuse box under the dashboard on the driver’s side or in the engine compartment. Refer to your owner’s manual for the exact location of the fuse box in your specific model.
4. Identify the radio fuse: Use the diagram on the fuse box cover or in your owner’s manual to identify the specific fuse associated with the radio. The radio fuse is typically labeled as “Audio” or something similar.
5. Remove the radio fuse: Using the needle-nose pliers, fuse puller, or your fingers, carefully remove the radio fuse from its slot. Please replace the fuse if damaged. 
6. Wait for a short period: Wait approximately 30 seconds to 1 minute to allow the radio system to reset.
7. Reinsert the radio fuse: Use the needle-nose pliers to reinsert the fuse into its original slot. 
8. Test the radio: Turn on the ignition and check the radio’s functionality. You may need to reprogram your radio stations and settings. Seek professional assistance if the radio still exhibits the same or more profound problems.
9. Replace the fuse box cover: Once you’ve confirmed that the radio is functioning correctly, secure the fuse box cover into its position.

How to Reset Hyundai Infotainment System

Resetting your Hyundai’s media system can help resolve software glitches or connectivity issues. Here are the steps to factory reset your infotainment system using the screen:

1. Turn on your Hyundai vehicle and ensure it’s in park mode, with the engine running or in accessory mode.
2. In the main settings menu, select the “General” option
3. Look for the “System Info” option, then select the “Default” on the side menu. 
4. Depending on your Hyundai model, you might need to select “Reset all” after step #4. 
5. A confirmation message will appear on the screen, asking if you want to proceed with the factory reset. The prompt ensures you don’t accidentally reset the system.
6. Confirm the factory reset by selecting “Yes.” The infotainment system will begin the reset process, which may take a while. Don’t turn off your vehicle or disconnect the battery, as this could cause damage to the system.
7. Once the reset process is complete, the infotainment system will restart and display its initial setup screen. Reconfigure your settings (Think language, time, date, radio stations, and navigation) and re-pair any Bluetooth devices.

   Resetting the Hyundai infotainment system when the display isn’t working 

If your Hyundai display is not working, try your luck with the pinhole. 

1. Locate the pinhole: The pinhole is usually located on the front panel, near the corner or edge of the screen. 
2. Prepare the tool: To press the reset button, you’ll need a small, thin tool such as a paperclip, needle, toothpick, or sharp ballpen.
3. Insert the tool: Gently insert the tool into the pinhole, then press and hold the reset button for 1-2 seconds.
4. Wait for the system to reset: The screen should go blank and then turn back on, displaying the Hyundai logo. 
5. Confirm the reset: Once the system restarts, check if the issue you were experiencing has been resolved.
